Where are the grit bins?

Shropshire Council provide a number of Grit Bins in out Parish. They are plastic yellow containers and can be found in the following locations:

  • Newcastle Road (A525) St Leonards / Kendrick Close
  • Grove Crescent
  • Moat Lane

Shropshire Council provide a map HERE however this may not be reliable as the Grove Crescent bin is missing from the map. Please contact the Clerk if you know of a bin that is not listed above and we can then list it correctly for the benefit of residents.

How should I use the grit?

The grit bins are provided so residents can help keep public highways and pavements safe during icy weather. The public is encouraged to use them – responsibly – to spread grit on roads, junctions, and footpaths nearby. A small amount of grit goes a long way.

They’re not, however, a free-for-all. Councils supply grit for use on public areas only, not private driveways, business car parks, or home paths. Removing grit for personal use can be classed as misuse under local regulations. Please also consider your own safety.

If you notice the grit bins are empty or have a problem, please report this on fix-my-street.
